My notification settings or Notification Preferences can be found under your profile menu.
On this page a user can view the channels where notifications can be
shown.

To see how an admin can send notifications follow this tutorial
In the notification preferences you can enable or disable your prefered types of content and if you wish to receive notifications of that type of content on which channel.
ex.
News I want te receive a notification on mobile and my intranet.
FAQs, Events & Jobs I only want to receive notifications on my Intranet.
Incidents are important and I want to receive these notifications on ALL channels.
The final part of the notification preferences are the content subscriptions. A user can change what content he sees on the intranet.
Ex. I enabled "People" in my news. This means I am only interested in news labeled "People"
As a admin when creating news components there is the option to enable or disable the "subscribed content" This options when enabled looks at this setting and filters the display accordingly. In this case only showing news with label "People"
